- Museum Taf Trail to Tongwynlais.
- Pentyrch hill at top turn right and then right into lane to Garth.
- Take 2nd left lane to Efail Isaf
- Through Efail Isaf at main road turn right then left by pub follow lane to main road.
- Cross road through Beddau carry straight on passing rugby club.
- Follow lane towards Tonyrefail up Capel Hill towards A4233
- Towards Trebanog turning left by Trebaog Arms then A4119 through Penygraig & Tonypandy
- Through pedestrianised shopping area [Costcutters open ] headtowards Llwynypia
- B 4223 to Ton Pentre over railway take A4058 Treochy & Treherbert [ArmsPark cafe]
- A4058 goes into A4061 over the Rhigos to Hirwain.
- At roundabout take Aberdare road A4059 the B4275 into Aberdare. [Cafes]
- B4275 to Abercynon
- Alternative route in Mountain Ash opposite railway bridge take right into High Street then left onto Llanwonow Road follow this to Llanwonow pub and then into Pontypridd
- At Abercynon follow Taf Trail [tarmac surface]to Pontypridd
- Either take Taf Trail back to Cardiff or if on road bikes A4058 through Rhydfelin , Treforoest Industrial Estate and at Nantgarw trail through Tafs Well, Tongwynlais back to Cardiff
